Healthy Hair Tips

There is no actual way to make your hair grow but you can do things to keep it healthy and that will ensure you don't have to keep cutting it all off. These are just 5 tips that I use to keep my hair healthy to let it continue to grow. This is a long process so don't give up!

1. Frequent trims- Get your hair trimmed every 6-8 weeks in order to keep split ends to a minimum. The smaller the split ends the less you have to cut off.

2. Don't use a brush on wet hair- it can be very damaging. When your hair is wet it is very brittle and a brush will do more damage. A wide tooth comb is much better.

3. Limited heat- Try not to blow dry your hair after showers unless you need to. Limit use of hot tools such as curling irons, straighteners, etc. Youtube has a lot of no heat hairstyles to try out!

4. Deep condition once a week or do a hot oil treatment- I have the Macadamia Deep Repair Masque and love it. Click to view product on Amazon! I also use a hot oil treatment occasionally with three tablespoons olive oil and three tablespoons canola oil. I heat them in the microwave for about 30-45 seconds then apply it all over my head and put on a shower cap. Let it sit for 20-30 mins and then rinse and shampoo hair. DO NOT CONDITION AFTER!! I made this mistake the first time just out of habit and my hair looked like I slept in grease the next morning.

5. Take hot showers and rinse cold. The hot water will stimulate your hair follicles causing more hair to grow. After conditioning, rinse your hair with cold water to close them back up. If you have color treated hair this will also help lock in color.

Hope some of these work for your daily lifestyle!

ELF Makeup Remover Cleansing Cloths- First Impressions!

At first I was looking at makeup wipes at Target that were around $7 and then saw the ones from ELF...I was reluctant to buy these doubting whether they'd work but for $3 I decided to at least try. I am SO impressed!! It took all my makeup off (I had a full face on today), including mascara, with no effort! The only thing I will need to see is if it breaks me out so I'll have an update soon!

UPDATE: On my third pack of these and they are, without a doubt, my favorite makeup wipes. The price with quality is unbelievable. Use it at night to remove makeup, then I wash my face and moisturize!

Remington Curling Wand Review

Want loose beachy waves and don't want to spend a ton of money on a clampless iron? Well, I've found the solution!

I have the Remington Keratin Therapy 1" Clip-Free Curling Iron and am in love with it.

I originally purchased their original wand that was 1" by the handle but got skinnier to 1/2" at the tip and I didn't like the way the curls turned out because they got so small at the end. I wanted loose beach waves. Finally, I found their 1" wand that stays at 1".

It was an affordable price ($27 at Wal-Mart). It has adjustable heat settings, which I love because my hair curls easily so I keep it on the lowest one to reduce the amount of heat being used.

A regular curling iron works to achieve this look but I prefer using this wand because it's so easy to use without the clamp getting in the way. A couple wraps of the hair, hold, finished.

I will try and post a picture later!

Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo Bad to the Bronze Review

Not too long ago, Maybelline released a new line of cream eye shadows. I didn't purchase it until recently and got the color Bad to the Bronze. It was $6.99 from Walgreens, which I thought was a little pricey for a single shadow- but I had heard nothing but good things about it so I purchased it anyway.

First impression: I like the packaging, and you get a lot of product. It lists that it lasts for 24 hours and I swatched it on my hand and found that even after washing them and going to bed, the next morning I could still see quite a bit of color so that was awesome!

As far as it goes for being a shadow, I am quite impressed. I have used it for the past week and even though it is a cream shadow, which will usually crease, I have yet to have that happen. The color is GREAT; perfect bronzy color.

I have been using Bad to the Bronze mainly as a primer or base. I was previously using Bare Minerals Prime Time in the color Toasted Almond for my eyelid primer. Mine came in a kit and I love it, but purchased alone it is $18. Well, Bad to the Bronze is a perfect match. It is a great dupe and the best thing is that it can be used as a lid primer, base shadow worn with others, or just by itself and all result in a great look.

Picture: The lower one is Bad to the Bronze and the upper one is Toasted Almond.

I love Bad to the Bronze, it was well worth the cost and I don't have any complaints! Highly recommend this product and will probably be purchasing more colors.

Side note: My favorite look with Bad to the Bronze is used with the original Naked Palette colors Virgin, Naked, Smog, and Darkhorse.

Summertime makeup routine

I look a hot mess because I have been outside all day (hence the sunburn!) but here is the list of makeup items I use everyday. I have sensitive skin that is mostly dry and I do break out pretty easily. But many of these products have been part of my routine for over a year now and I love them. All products were purchased from Walgreens or Target and prices are approximate if I could not find the exact price and had to look it up.

1. Elf Studio Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20: $3
2. Maybelline Fit Me #120: $7.99
3. Covergirl Trublend Minerals #410: $8
4. Maybelline Super Stay 24 hr concealer in Light Clair: $7.99
5. Rimmel Natural Bronzer in 021 Sun Light: $5.49
6. Wet n Wild blush in Pearlescent Pink: $2.99
7. Wet n Wild Brow and Eyeliner Pencil in Dark brown: $0.99
8. Wet n Wild eyeshadow trio in Walking on Eggshells: $1.99
9. Maybelline Eye Studio eyeliner in Master Drama: $6.49
10. Maybelline Falsies in Black: $5
11. Urban Decay All Nighter Spray: $29 from Sephora--- I know it's crazy expensive but for the summer I LOVE this. It keeps my makeup on so much longer!

Product Review: Garnier Fructis Leave In Conditioner

I have heard a lot about this product but I never went out of my way to purchase it. I found it at Deals for $3 and decided to try it out. I can already tell I won't be repurchasing. It hasn't done anything bad to my hair, but after a week of using it I haven't felt/noticed anything different.

BUT! I should explain my hair type because it may be helpful for other types. I have naturally dry hair and I color it every 7 weeks. So I really need good quality products to keep my hair moisturized. Unfortunately, this product isn't going to be one I keep around. It does smell great but for my hair type it just isn't doing the trick.

Nars Orgasm Dupe!

Finger on left is Pearlescent Pink. Finger on right is Nars Orgasm

I am in love with Nars Orgasm blush. It is the perfect shade of pink with a little gold shimmer. The only problem is the price ($28). I find myself only using it for special occasions because it was so costly and I don't want to wear it on a daily basis just going to school/work. But I finally found the perfect dupe: Wet n Wild Pearlescent Pink.

Wet n Wild is a brand that I find to be underestimated. Yes, sometimes you "get what you pay for" but almost always I am more than satisfied with this brand and it is SO CHEAP! I LOVE their shadows, which are only around $3-4 for the small trio ones. I recently purchased their liquid eyeliner (I even had some doubt on that, but was proved wrong) for $4 at my local drugstore.

Wet n Wild "Pearlescent Pink" cost me $3 and it was the best purchase I have made in forever. It looks so much like Orgasm and is so pigmented. Literally one tap will get me an entire cheek. The only difference is Orgasm has a little more gold in it. But with that price and the color, it cannot be beat! I highly recommend this product and it can be found at most drugstores. As much as I love Orgasm, Pearlescent Pink has definitely become my new favorite.
